🌀 EFT Tapping Script: Releasing Resistance to Editing Your Chapbook

Feeling stuck? This post walks you through a simple EFT tapping practice to gently move past avoidance and reconnect with your purpose. Includes a guided video, script, and tips for customization.

I am NOT an EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) expert or trained in it. I use it to work through emotions and limiting beliefs, so that I can move forward.

✨ What Is EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques)?

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)—often called tapping—is a holistic healing method that combines gentle tapping on specific acupressure points with verbal affirmations. It’s designed to help release emotional blocks, reduce stress, and restore balance to the body’s energy system.

Think of it as a blend of modern psychology and ancient Chinese medicine. By tapping on meridian points (like those used in acupuncture) while acknowledging emotions, EFT helps calm the nervous system and shift limiting beliefs.

🧠 Why It Works

  • Regulates the nervous system by reducing cortisol (the stress hormone)-source

  • Interrupts negative thought loops and emotional overwhelm - source & source

  • Supports clarity and creativity—especially helpful for writers, parents, and anyone navigating big transitions - source

👐 Who It’s For

EFT is accessible to everyone—from kids to adults—and can be used for:

  • Emotional regulation

  • Creative blocks

  • Physical discomfort

  • Limiting beliefs

  • Performance anxiety

This is one EFT session I created with the help of Microsoft Copilot to move through avoidance behaviors and get to editing my chapbook. You can insert what ever you are avoiding in the replace of “chapbook” when you say it yourself along with any emotion that doesn’t hit right for you, feel free to adjust it for your needs. I hope it helps you.

Rate the Feeling
First rate how intense your feeling of avoidance is from 0-10 with 10 being the most intense to 0 being no emotional charge.

⏱ 0:50 Setup Statement (Karate Chop Point): "Even though I'm avoiding editing my Chapbook and distracting myself with everything else, I deeply love and accept myself. I honor the part of me that’s overwhelmed or unsure, and I’m open to clarity and ease."

⏱ 2:40 Round 1 – Acknowledging the Resistance:

Eyebrow:“I really don’t want to work on this right now.”
Side of Eye:“I’ve found so many ways to avoid it.”
Under Eye:“There’s something about it that feels heavy.”
Under Nose:“I might be afraid it won’t come out the way I want.”
Chin:“Or maybe I’m just tired and stretched too thin.”
Collarbone:“It’s easier to scroll, read, do laundry—anything but this.”
Under Arm:“But I notice this resistance and I choose to honor it.”
Top of Head:“It’s okay to pause. It’s okay to feel stuck.”

⏱ 4:06 Round 2 – Inviting Clarity and Empowerment:
Eyebrow: “There’s wisdom in my timing.”
Side of Eye: “What if this resistance is here to teach me something?”
Under Nose: “I breathe into the discomfort with compassion.”
Under Eye: “My Chapbook matters—it reflects stories that want to be heard.”
Chin: “I choose to show up for this project with gentleness.”
Collarbone: “I don’t have to be perfect. I just have to begin.”
Under Arm: “Each small step is movement. Each edit is connection.”
Top of Head: “I can trust the words will flow when I’m aligned.”

⏱ 5:30 Final Round – Reaffirming Power and Flow:
Eyebrow: “I release resistance and welcome clarity.”
Side of Eye: “I’m showing up now, not to force, but to listen.”
Under Eye: “There’s magic in this work and I’m ready to feel it.”
Under Nose: “I am grounded, creative, and powerful.”
Chin: “This Chapbook will serve and inspire.”
Collarbone: “I choose flow. I choose trust.”
Under Arm: “I’m aligned with my purpose.”
Top of Head: “And this work matters deeply.”

Repeat as Needed
Repeat as many times as you need to, to feel the shift. I usually do 1-3 rounds of this whole script and stop at an emotional intensity rating of 0-2 depending on what it is, how much time I have, and how it is affecting me. I’ve given time stamps to save you time, so you can pick up where you need to.
